Reason for Revision: Compliance
In accordance with the Rules and Procedures of the 2010–2015 Council of Experts, the Monographs—Small Molecules 4 Expert Committee has revised the Carbidopa monograph.
The purpose for the revision is to eliminate the use of USP Carbidopa Related Compound A RS under the Limit of Methyldopa and Carbidopa Related Compound A test. Recent evaluation of the current lot of USP Carbidopa Related Compound A RS by USP scientific staff has determined that it is no longer suitable for its compendial usage as described in USP 34–NF 29.The revision allows quantification of carbidopa related compound A using USP Carbidopa RS. The limit of carbidopa related compound A remains unchanged.
The Carbidopa Revision Bulletin supersedes the currently official Carbidopa monograph. The Revision Bulletin will be incorporated in the Second Supplement to USP 35–NF 30.
