Expert Committee: Monograph Development—Ophthalmology, Oncology, and Dermatology

The USP Monograph Development—Ophthalmology, Oncology, and Dermatology Expert Committee is proposing changes for Glacial Acetic Acid monograph, which will appear as a proposed IRAs in Pharmacopeial Forum PF 36(3), May–June, 2010.

Comments with supporting data were received that indicate the current Lanthanum Nitrate Identification test cannot be successfully performed because the concentration of the sample solution is too high. It is proposed to change the sample concentration from 1:2 dilution to 1:100 dilution in order to improve the usability of the procedure.

The comment period for this revision ends on July 15, 2010. In the absence of any adverse comments, this revision will become official in the Interim Revision Announcement that appears in PF 36(5) Sept–Oct 2010, with an official date of October 1, 2010.
