In accordance with the Rules and Procedures of the Council of Experts, this is to provide notice that the Small Molecules 4 Expert Committee intends to revise the Sodium Polystyrene Sulfonate Suspension monograph.
Comments were received that indicate the calculation in the test for Potassium Exchange Capacity should be modified. The volume of the Suspension was not taken into consideration in the calculation. The Expert Committee proposes to revise the Sodium Polystyrene Sulfonate Suspension monograph to clarify the calculation in the test for Potassium Exchange Capacity.
It is anticipated that the proposed revision will be published as an Interim Revision Announcement (IRA) in Pharmacopeial Forum 51(3) pursuant to the Rules and Procedures. The comment period is scheduled to end on July 31, 2025. In the absence of adverse comments, this monograph is scheduled to become official on November 1, 2025.
