USP was alerted that for the Purified Stearic Acid monograph, the version of the monograph that was scheduled to be omitted on May 1, 2019 displayed the incorrect official status of “Currently Official”. The version with an official date of January 1, 2018 was omitted as of May 1, 2019 due to the inclusion of the article of commerce in another compendial standard, Stearic Acid, as Stearic Acid 95.
Due to a technical issue, the official status of this version did not automatically switch to “Older Version” on May 1, 2019. USP is taking steps to strengthen its internal process further to address monographs which are being omitted with an implementation period greater than 6 months.
The version of Purified Stearic Acid on the USP-NF Online now appears correctly with an official status of “Older Version” and an omission date of May 1, 2019. Its associated DocID is:
