Using Digital Object Identifiers in USP Documentary Standards

Type of Announcement: Publication Announcement
Posting Date: 29–Oct–2021

With the posting of USP-NF 2022 Issue 1 on November 1, 2021, USP will begin incorporating Digital Object Identifiers in its documentary standards. DOIs are unique alphanumeric strings assigned by a registration agency to identify content and provide a persistent link to its location on the Internet, and they enable a robust mechanism for sharing and citation. The DOI will display at the bottom of all Monographs, General Chapters, and other content in USP-NF, where the DocID currently appears. In PDFs printed from USP-NF content, the DOI and DOI Ref will both appear in the document’s header.

For more information, see the DOI FAQs or contact the ADD Team in Publications.
