Impact of Extended Implementation on USP–NF Platform Starting on November 1, 2020 until December 1, 2020

Type of Posting: Publication Announcement
Posting Date: 23-Oct-2020

USP recognizes that stakeholders are currently facing numerous challenges with maintaining normal operations during, and responding to, the Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) global pandemic.

In an effort to support industry and regulators while continuing to support public health during this difficult time, the USP Council of Experts previously announced the adjustment of  official dates for specific issues of USP–NF: see the Compendial Notice “Extended Implementation and Comment Period Extension for USP and FCC Publications” posted on March 27, 2020 The official dates were adjusted as follows:

  • United States Pharmacopoeia and National Formulary
    • USP 43–NF 38: Official date has been extended by 6 months from May 1, 2020 to November 1, 2020
    • USP 43–NF 38, First Supplement: Official date has been extended by 3 months from August 1, 2020 to November 1, 2020

As a result, both USP 43–NF 38 and USP 43–NF 38, First Supplement are becoming official at the same time, on November 1, 2020. USP 43–NF 38, Second Supplement will become official one (1) month later, on December 1, 2020.

Please note that although both USP 43–NF 38 and USP 43–NF 38, First Supplement will become official on November 1, 2020, the USP–NF Online platform is designed to designate only one publication as official at a time. Starting on November 1, 2020, you will see USP 43–NF 38, First Supplement as the designated official publication within the banner on the main dashboard and as the green check-mark icon in the filter section (see below for screenshots). Standards targeted to become official on November 1, 2020 will show the green “Currently Official” status at the document level. Please refer to the status of each individual standard for appropriate official dates and revision status.
