Expert Committee: Monographs—Dietary Supplements and Herbal Medicines

Pursuant to a Revision Bulletin posted on July 31, 2013, the Council of Experts Executive Committee (CoE EC) postponed the official dates of the Elemental Impurities Test in the Contaminants Section of the Valerian, Powdered Valerian, and Powdered Valerian Extract monographs. The purpose for the postponement was to allow adequate time for the CoE EC to adjudicate and render a decision on an appeal related to the Elemental Impurities test in the monographs.

On September 17, 2013, the CoE EC voted to uphold the references in the monographs to the Elemental Impurities Test and decided that an official date of December 1, 2013 should be established, ending the postponement of that section in each monograph. The Commentary for Supplement 1 to USP 36–NF 31 has been amended to include responses to appellant’s comments.

These Revision Bulletins for Valerian, Powdered Valerian, and Powdered Valerian Extract supersede the Revision Bulletins posted on July 31, 2013.
